7/4/2023 0 Comments Nobu sushio nyc![]() Overall C- restaurant that doesn't justifies the hype and the price tag. There was nothing molten about he molten cake, it tasted and looked like it sat on the counter for days before served. How bad a service can be to serve a couple their main entree 15 minutes apart… The fish was the best part of the evening and the steak was good.įor dessert we ordered the short bread dessert which was really good and the molten dark chocolate cake. The California roll was good and the crab meat was fresh and a couple of tampura veggies that's was fine.įor main course my girlfriend ordered the Miso Cod and I had the tenderloin steak. In addition we ordered the rock shrimp which was ok… Nothing special and definitely doesn't justify the $20+ price tag! We ordered couple of the tacos and for our surprised they were tacos for babies, mini tacos will do injustice with mini tacos. We noticed something is off with the service when we asked for suggestions and our server was annoyed by it. Not a good start but I was glad they accommodate our request. I've asked to move us to the main dining area and so we did. Saturday was one of the coldest nights of the year and even so we decided to go. It surely was an unforgettable night but no for the right reasons. I've planned a month a head and booked it for our anniversary and valentines with the anticipation to have an unforgettable night. My girlfriend has been wanting to go to Nobu for months. Wow how much disappointment can a restaurant provide in one evening. ![]() My recommendation would be for a party of 4 to share a rock shrimp tempura and then each eat a black cod of their own. Service was fine – it neither blew me away nor detracted from the dinner, so I'll average this to 4-stars. So the black cod was a 5-star dish, the shrimp a 4-star dish, and the sushi a 3-star dish. This was not any more exciting, well-prepared, or tasty than a sushi assortment at any other sushi bar I've been to, except for being about twice the price. ![]() The final dish we had was the "sushi dinner" which consisted of a tuna maki roll and eight pieces of nigiri. My wife commented that I need to figure out how to make this when we get home, and it's high on my list of dishes to learn to cook. The black cod with miso came highly recommended, and did not disappoint. A perfect world would have a half-priced, half-sized version of this dish. This was too much to be an appetizer for two, but I can't see somebody making an entree out it, as that'd be just too samey. Very tasty, but the portion was oddly sized. Started out with the Rock Shrimp Tempura w/ creamy spicy sauce. Matsuhisa not only represents dining at its finest, it is the foundation of a culinary empire that is still growing today.Had an excellent meal here on our final night in NYC. The smoky grey profile of a 38 year old Nobu is still there 30 years later, and has become the logo to his ever expanding legacy.Īlthough his flagship still retains the low key décor from day one, it is distinguished by its skilled staff and an enormous menu packed with peerless dishes. ![]() ![]() When Matsuhisa’s doors first opened, a silhouette of Nobu was painted behind the sushi bar. In 1987, the ambitious sushi chef opened his first restaurant in sunny Beverly Hills, bringing his inspired blend of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine to the public. Yet every great movement has to start somewhere. His name is the springboard for this generation’s master chefs, who have gone on to open their own acclaimed eateries after their start under Nobu’s guidance. His food is enjoyed by millions of diners hungry for his innovative food and sleek atmosphere. His restaurants stretch across five continents, with over 40 locations across the globe. Nobu Matsuhisa means dining at its finest. ![]()
